  • 10:39 After a fine Golden Egg breakfast, I’m now taking off for Old Orchard Beach and possibly Portland via every oceanview backroad I can find.
  • 16:06 Old Orchard Beach is cheesier than Hampton Beach. That’s a dubious distinction. In Portland’s Old Port enjoying a Victory Hop Devil IPA!

  • 10:15 Visiting with a nutritionist/dietician today. Might have to say goodbye to some bad habits. Might say goodbye to some pounds, too :)

Some good info from the dietitian today…

Filed under: Uncategorized — gregorymeyer @ 3:15 pm

I met with a dietitian today. She gave me a hard copy of this chart. I found the digital version on Stephanie’s Healthspot. On her site, Stephanie says this about Josephine Connolly’s Bull’s-Eye Food Guide:

“An alternative to the Food Pyramid, the Bull’s-Eye Food Guide helps individuals to understand healthy dieting. According to this diagram, a person’s diet should include Water, Carbohydrates (grains, starches, sugars), Vegetables, Fruits, Dairy Products (milk, yogurt), Proteins and Fats. The majority of a person’s diet should consists of carbohydrates, represented by a larger portion of the diagram. Other food groups that are represented by smaller portions should compose smaller amounts of a person’s diet.

The foods listed in the center of the bull’s-eye (in green) are the healthiest foods from each food group that you can eat often everyday. The foods listed in yellow are healthy foods that can be eaten everyday as well. The foods listed in the red, however, are foods that can be eaten after you stop and consider how many foods you have eaten from the red section in other food groups that day.”

It makes perfect sense to me. I just may use it as a guideline for a couple of weeks and see how that goes.  One problem: I don’t see beer on the chart. Hmmmm ;)

  • 09:55 Just back from meeting a friend for breakfast. I need to do more of this. Now, I’m contemplating playing the didgeridoo or re-racking…
  • 11:38 When I learn circular breathing, I will really enjoy doing my didgeridooing. Anyone have pointers on the circular breathing bit? Thanks.
