Grrrrrr

Filed under: Uncategorized — gregorymeyer @ 4:53 pm

I haven’t figured out why LoudTwitter and and WordPress aren’t playing nicely together. Here are my updates for the past couple of days. I don’t think you missed much.

  • 11:12am And now…it’s okay to put up Christmas decorations. I saw some lights on a house over a month ago. Where’s Terry Tate when you need him?

  • 5:30am I’m thinking the European time zone still has a grip on me. Up early and wanting to re-rack.
  • 7:49am Up early? Go see a sunrise by the ocean. Gorgeous! Took some pics with the new cam. Still learning how to use it well. Good fun.
  • 10:06am Uploading photos, listening to the new Ellis Paul CD and wondering how I can watch the Bearcats game today. Gotta love a BCS bowl game!
  • 2:03pm A shout out to the “Al Gore” of satellite television ;) Here I sit watching the UC football game with no major broadcast. Woohoo!

  • 8:59am With my NYC cousin mentioning goetta yesterday, I’m craving some today. Mmmmmm, goetta.
  • 4:51pm This may be the second week in a row where my non-starters score more total points than my starters. That’s nightmare football, not fantasy.

Thankful for everything but technical difficulties

Filed under: Uncategorized — gregorymeyer @ 6:55 am

To use a phrase a friend uses, “The person I want to be” would find the blessing in the technical difficulties between Twitter, Twitterific, LoudTwitter and WordPress. He would know there is some lesson to be learned from the apparent malfunction which has resulted in no status updates since November 24th. He would forgive Twitter, Twitterific, LoudTwitter and WordPress for all of their possible transgressions in this matter.  He would know there’s a possibility of operator error and be gentle with himself. Blah, blah, blah.

That guy ain’t here right now ;) Kinda kidding. However, I don’t know why this blog hasn’t been updated since November 24th. I’ll get to solving the problem. For now, here’s what you’ve been missing (with a bonus, ahead of schedule posting of what I’ve already posted this morning — maybe that’s the silver lining):

There you have it, folks. Here’s a short-term solution to the problem at hand. On to resolving the issue so technology is my friend again. I think it might have something to do with switching continents and having to reset a time zone. Hmmmmm.

I apologize if you worried about my well-being due to a lack of posts (Mom) ;)

Happy Thanksgiving to all from Portsmouth, NH!

Much love,
Gregory

PS – I think I pushed the limits on the number of emoticons (smiley faces) used in a short post. I’ll have to look into this more deeply as “the person I want to be” ;)

  • 19:58 Going to bed at 2am in an effort to jump into a semi-regular schedule of slacking upon my return home. I’m up in four hours for my taxi.

  • 14:50 Free Wi-Fi = happy. It’s a gorgeous, snowy night in Prague. Having a Staropramen and thinking of Buckeyes and Bearcats. Go Cats! Go Bucks!
  • 15:05 PS – Go Red Raiders! I’m still on that bandwagon. Not like I’ll see any games from Prague. Love it here and I want to be in Cincy tonight.

the time zone thingie

Filed under: Uncategorized — gregorymeyer @ 5:43 am

first and foremost, my european travels have been grand. why did i wait so long to make it over to europe (other than a trip to ireland in 1999)? that’s another post.

today’s brief topic is time zones. i am currently in a time zone which operates six hours ahead of my home time zone. at this very moment, it is 1126am here in budapest.

if i were in portsmouth, nh, it would be 526am and i would be fast asleep. however, i’ve been wide awake for hours now. tuesday night and yesterday were even more wacky.

i spent all of tuesday bustling around budapest. when i came home, i was uber tired. additionally, we planned to take an early bus to vienna on wednesday. how’s this for a schedule???

+ went to bed – 830pm (230pm)
+ woke up – 5am (11pm the same day back in the usa)
+ caught bus to vienna – 7am (1am)
+ arrived in vienna – 10am (4am)
+ had lunch with beer – 1030am (430am)
+ caught bus back to budapest – 7pm (1pm)
+ arrived in budapest – 10pm (4pm)
+ went to bed – 12am (6pm)

of course, i understand it intellectually. experientially, it’s altogether different. i keep thinking, “it’s ______ (whatever the time is) back home.” in the moment, it blows my mind. then, i move on ;) it should be interesting when i get home.

that’s my take for today. i’m off to enjoy more of budapest. for those who are paying attention, i did switch vienna and bratislava. thanks for keeping up.

peace and love from europa,
greg

  • 17:19 Today was Vienna in Austria. It was an excellent, long day. The internal time change is in effect, but it’s odd waking up at midnight EST.
